DRY SKIN: EXFOLIATION

Even though the skin is dry, the natural shedding process (exfoliation) still occurs and once a week it is a good idea to remove dead skin by using an exfoliation cream such as Blackmores Cinnamon Scrub which will gently scrub away the dead skin and open the pores to allow the skin to breathe freely making the skin healthy. It combines oatmeal and cinnamon, which are excellent cleansers, and honey for its soothing and healing properties, combined again with soy lecithin and lanolin as moisturisers and emollients.

So far we have just looked at caring for the face and neck but that is not the only part of our body which can be dry. We should then look at the whole body. The soothing properties of marsh-mallow and evening primrose oil can improve the skin. Marsh-mallow for general cleansing is very soothing to the skin and is an anti-inflammatory for problem skin. Marshmallow Complexion Soap will cleanse the skin without causing harshness or damage. Following that, a lotion containing evening primrose, applied over the whole body will soften, protect and nourish the skin.

A good hand cream containing calendula gives that extra protection for hands especially when associated with housework or work where the hands are exposed to detergents and cleansing agents.
